Each Saturday, something extra special comes to Tamarindo. The Tamarindo Feria and Farmer’s Market brings farmers, artists, musicians, and surfers together and epitomizes the real pura vida vibe of our seaside town. More than a marketplace for homemade goodies and artisan crafts, the Feria also functions as an openhearted community gathering space. The vendors represent a rainbow of townspeople, ex-pats, and Costa Rican families. Visitors to the Feria can go from a discourse on the cacao bean to acupuncture therapy and finish the morning off with a fresh-from-th-pan empanada. By the end, it may feel as if you’ve found yourself among a group of old friends.
The Feria is the ideal place for scooping gifts or souvenirs from your trip. While there, you can also stock up on tropical fruits and vegetables, breads and spreads, and exceptional desserts. Some specialties to look for at the Feria include kitchen products handcrafted of Guanacaste wood, local jewelers selling one-of-a-kind pieces, and a dairy-free chocolate spread that will literally light your palette on fire.
Vendors travel from near and far to bring their goods to the visitors and locals of Tamarindo. Lucky for guests of Sirena Serena, the Feria is a cool five minute walk from the hotel. You can find the entrance behind the Loose Moose, directly across from the Shrimp Hole, next to the Super 2001. It runs from 8am-1pm, but we suggest an earlier visit as many vendors will pack up by noon (and the legendary chocolate spread tends to sell out…)!
