Playa Grande is 18 kilometer north from Tamarindo in the district Santa Cruz. The beach is internationally known as one of the best surf spots in Costa Rica and it is also part of the ‘Parque Nacional Marino las Baulas’ – Nesting place of the biggest sea reptile, the leatherback turtle. A great view, sandy ground and big waves make a visit matchless.
Playa Avellanas is also located on the gold coast of Guanacaste. It is 19 kilometers away from Tamarindo. It is a paradise for surfers with gorgeous waves which can get a height up to 5,5 meters. Local people call this beach “small Hawaii” because of the white sand and the turquoise water. There is a beach bar with loungers and hammocks and there are a handful of restaurants. It is the ideal place to relax.
Playa Conchal is about 21 kilometers away from Tamarindo. Together with Playa Brasilito, this beach is separated by a rocky headland known as Punta Conchal, which gets its name from the sand found here that is composed of hundreds of millions of tiny shells. The shells feel very soft on the feet and it is wonderful to walk around there. The beach is so long that you find a quiet place for sure. There are also shade giving trees and the water is very clear.
Playa Negra is located 23 kilometers north from Tamarindo and is also a surfers paradise. It is known for its world-class waves and breaks. But not only this distinguish this beach. There are also several restaurants and Cafés and a great view. Convince yourself and enjoy the laid-back Tico lifestyle.
