Hanging Bridges
Rainforest views

Eager to explore the highlands of Costa Rica? We know beaches are beautiful, but Costa Rica has so much more to offer. Experience it while you’re here!

The most famous area to explore the tropical rainforests of Costa Rica, is La Fortuna! It’s quite a trip from Tamarindo, but if you have time, we definitely recommend going there. On the way you will pass beautiful Arenal Lake, with a gorgeous view of the Arenal Volcano (if you are lucky with the weather).

This are is known for being quite rainy most of the year, and sometimes you might miss the Volcano completely due to cloudy weather for weeks. But some days you might get a short time period where the sun is shining and there are no clouds in sight. Many stay here for a while to follow the weather, hoping to get a glimpse of the Volcano, since it is a quite magnificent sight.

While you wait for the clouds to pass by, you can always spend a day or two at hot springs here.

There are many to choose from, here are a few of them:

– Tabacón

– Baldi

– Ecotermales

– Springs Resort

– Titoku

– Kalambu

There are also so many other things to see and do in this area. It’s not just the impressive volcano, but also the lush green rainforest, the rivers, the hot springs and the cute little town with its cafes.

How about exploring the rainforest on a zipline? We can promise you, you will definitely have a magnificent view of the rainforest from the top. There are also hanging bridges through the rainforest on which you have amazing views too, here you will see small rivers and beautiful trees. This is also a great alternative for ziplining if you don’t want to do that.

Of course, there are also several hiking possibilities, you can hike up a volcano or to different waterfalls. Or, you can have an adventure in the river while doing white water rafting. There is rafting for different levels, for families and beginners, to adrenaline-junkies, up to class 4.

Of course, this area is really beautiful. But did you know there is also a Volcano closer to Tamarindo? We totally recommend visiting El Rincon de la Vieja, to those who don’t want to sit in a car for such a long time, or don’t wish to spend many days in La Fortuna.
